New Year, New Probe

So here we are; it is a new year, and you're all in the hands of a whole new set of Probies. Your former weekly updater has left for, say, rosier pastures. From this point forward, you have a new guide into the eerie realm of the Student Activities Board. The neoprobies are here!

As we conclude our first week of school, there is already so much to say. We had a very successful time at the Involvement Fair, giving away more than a few cartfuls of SAB swag. Let's just say we put our prize wheel to the test that afternoon.

The challenge for all the little peasants- I mean students at the Quad Party.
On Thursday, we had our first true SAB event: the Quad Party. With a water slide, live music, free food, and most importantly, free SAB swag, this was a great chance to introduce all the common folk to the mysteries of their overlords, the Student Activities Board. Like the Involvement Fair, we exercised our prize wheel to its max!

Our valiant director, Lady Stacey, managing the wheel, and me, your version of Gandalf,  in the process of losing my lovely voice.
With Brody and the Outlaws providing the music, the focus of the small ones (meaning y'all reading this) was certainly on the water slide. There is simply too many wonderful photos of people going down it to share here, but here are some of my favorites of the Board:

Here is your Education Chair, Carli, looking like a lil' kid pouting. Adorable, ain't she?
Stacey again, crash landing into the pool.
Carli makes a reappearance here, with Mandy of Bengal Pride in tow.
The current holder of the Family Events chair, Whitney, mid-fall. I can't tell if she likes it or not.
Safe to say, we had fun. Meeting people has its perks, but for me, holding a domineering presence over the kids in line really made my day. This year will be a blast!

If you want to see us in action again (and let's face it, who wouldn't?), head on out to the Family Game night kickoff this upcoming Friday. Sure it may be oriented towards kids, but it's going to be a delight for those who can survive our series of Olympic-style tourneys. Plus with the Lorax (PG) playing in the evening, you aren't going to want to miss it.

You also won't want to miss the football game on Saturday. Come tailgate with us at 2pm in the Holt Parking Lot. You can win free schtuff if you can somewhat throw a ball. We're not expecting a lot of talent from all y'all.

A whole new team awaits to lead y'all into a year of fun, challenges, knowledge, and most of all, memories. The Student Activities Board is here, so don't miss your chances to be with us week after week. I mean, you are really going to need a break from all that studying, right?

You stay classy, Pocatello!

Probe Down!

So...

I guess this is goodbye. It's the end of the 2011-2012 ISU Student Activities Board, and starting next week it's an (almost -  I'm looking at you Stacey) all new board!

What does this mean for the Probe? It means soon there will be a new voice speaking to you through the Probe. A new person's perspective, ideas, and personality.

'Cuz let's face it, I can be a tad snarky. Will the next Prober be? You'll just have to keep reading and stick around for next year.

So, who are the new honchos coming to the office. Well these losers...

I mean winners!

The only returning SAB member will be Stacey Pearson! This past year she was our amazing Family Events Programmer!

Look at that sly Mrs. Claus!
Our new Bengal Pride Chair will be Amanda Donaldson! If she looks familiar, you may also be an Alpha Xi Delta sorority member. Just think about that one...

Education Chair goes to... Carli Oeding. Hey Carli, remember that time you came to an SAB event, and were hypnotized? Ya, me too. Good times.

Entertainment and future Bingo balls caller (and other events) will be Valenting Garcia. A Kappa Sigma brother, and all around good guy!

The new Family Events Chair will be Whitney Garner! I don't actually know her... so y'all should give feedback on this sure to be awesome individual! I mean, she got hired right?

Next year's Marketing Chair, and possible Prober ... Ryan Heffner!

Good luck to next year's Student Activities Board! You're gonna need it! (Especially at Homecoming...)

I'm just kidding!

It's been a wild year for the Probies, and I just want to say thank you to all of the students that came out and supported all of our events. Thanks for making this year such a success! Also, thank you to all of the Probe readers out there! If only you knew how to comment...

I leave you with a song that seems very appropriate. For all you 90s kids, I hope you get the reference!

Until, well... Goodbye!

The inspiration for this year's theme comes from a picture. A random picture we came across, and has inspired the events, prizes, carnies, videos, posters, and our general thought processes!

How sweet is this picture!
You should also check out this seriously amazing video. Over 100 hours of work went into this piece of art. Yes. We suffer for our art! (But seriously, planning, filming, editing, it's a boatload of work. A boatload I say!)

Seriously love this video! And we here at SAB and Creative Productions hope that you do too!

Whether it's satirizing the President, spoofing Nazis, or ordering up some soul food, ‘Key & Peele’ showcases their chemistry, camaraderie and unique point of view, born from their shared background and experiences growing up biracial in a not quite post-racial world.”

The show will be held in the Pond Student Union Building’s Ballroom, and will begin at 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 6:30 PM.

Admission is free for ISU Students with valid Bengal ID’s, and $5 for the general public, faculty, and staff. Tickets in advance will NOT be sold. Admission is at the door only.

Let's Talk About Sex

This year, SAB brought you a variety of events for our annual Sex Awareness Week (February 6th- 10th).

Comment below on what events you attended, what you liked, what you didn't like, and what you would like to see in the future!

We started the week with a truly unique and educational event, our Condom Casino!

Hosted on Tuesday, February 7th, this free event to students allowed them to gamble, and no matter what, win big in the end.

What did you win after playing card games like blackjack, war, craps, and more? CONDOMS GALORE.

Drop one like it's hot

On Wednesday, February 8th, the Bengal Theater played the cult-classic Woody Allen Fim "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, But Were Afraid to Ask." Free condoms were available at the theater as well.

Thursday, we continued our popular SuperFood Showdown series with a tilt towards Valentine's Day by crafting excellent and healthy recipes with Dark Chocolate.

Say aaah
Finally on Friday, we ended the week with some good ol' fashioned LIVE GROUP SEX with Daniel Packard.

If you weren't one of the many who attended this amazing show, then you really missed out. We laughed until we cried. Packard did an excellent job of bringing people out of their shells, and talk about a subject many feel too sensitive to touch.

Until next time, we leave you with a classic.
